I’d meant to post this story the day after the last one, but the run-up to Hell Walk 2 has been so busy that I just haven’t been able to find the time. As you all know, last Saturday night I hosted a fundraiser at Sonny McLean’s that was a smashing success. We raised over $5500 — more than twice what we raised last year!
Of all the amazing things given out that night, however, the one most dear to me is one that I had no idea was coming. Earlier this year — thanks to the generosity of producer Chris Moore and Universal Pictures –we screened the film “American Reunion” for several hundred veterans. The night was a great success and went on well into the evening as we adjourned for drinks and karaoke into the wee hours.
Unbeknownst to me, Karen Kraft had arranged over the last few months to get scores upon scores of veterans to sign an “American Reunion” poster, and I was presented with it just before the end of the fundraiser. Thankfully, I did not get choked up, but I assure you I was very, very close.
Thanks to all of the veterans who signed that poster. I will display it proudly in my home for the rest of my life. And thanks to Karen for getting above and beyond once again. What a night.
