Whew! Rolling into the final THREE WEEKS before Hell Walk 2!! I can’t believe it is so near!  I am quickly becoming both more excited and terrified by the moment (which is actually not that awful of a feeling). There are still plenty of action items to be completed, but one major one finally got buttoned up this morning and for that I am immensely thankful.

When I decided last year that the proceeds from Hell Walk 2 were going to go to create scholarships for the children of military personnel who had lost parents in combat, I had no idea just how tricky something like that was going to be. You see, the military strongly protects its own and there are, frankly, layers and layers of bureaucracy through which to wade. After a good amount of searching, frustration (and quiet panic in recent weeks), we finally found the perfect charity for Hell Walk 2.

Established in 1980, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation is dedicated to providing scholarships to the children of special operations servicemen and servicewomen who have lost a parent in action. Their reputation amongst the military is spotless, and they have enabled 210 children to obtain the college education that they may not otherwise have been able to afford. Simply put, this is a great organization, and I am humbled to be working alongside them as we strive to raise $50,000 this year to fund the scholarship grants that they offer.
